Life in the Spirit explores who the Holy Spirit is, how He works in us, and how we can live daily under His guidance. While the Father and the Son feel familiar, the Spirit can sometimes seem abstract. The talk will explore how the Holy Spirit, present in us all, empowers us and moves us to become other Christ's in the world. To become a saint, our ultimate destiny, means to live a life rooted in the Holy Spirit.

Fr. Alvin Joys grew up in Woodbridge, and went to High School at St. Jean de Brebeuf from 2009-2013. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from University of Waterloo, working in software engineering before entering seminary formation in 2018. Fr. Alvin was ordained a priest in May 2025 and now serves as Associate Pastor at St. Clare of Assisi Parish.

On Sunday, August 10th, we will be headed to Centennial Beach to spend time together as the summer comes to a close. The social does not have a strict itinerary — we hope to swim, snooze, picnic and play!

We recommend that those interested in attending carpool with friends. Public parking is available directly in front of the beach, however, a cheaper option for parking is also available and is about a 10-minute walk from the beach (Chase McEachern Way - between Bayfield and Simcoe Street). You can always drop off heavy items first, then have another person drive to the parking lot and walk back. Since it is public parking, we recommend arriving as close to 8:00 am as possible as we cannot reserve spots. Centennial Beach is also accessible by the GO Train. Please check the Barrie weekend schedule (northbound) for departure and arrival times.

Centennial Beach has public washrooms, a concession stand, basketball court, volleyball court, park, walkways, surrounding restaurants, and is wheelchair accessible. We encourage you to bring a chair, umbrella, lunch and lots of water & sunscreen. We hope to see you there!
